New proper-name recogniser for Opentrad

From now on Opentrad includes a new tool: apertium-pn-recognizer, which detects and highlights proper nouns in texts which do not need translation. This process aims to avoid a very common error in machine translators: translation of proper names that can also be common names according to dictionaries. This recogniser is based mainly on the one existing already in Freeling. New language pair for translation in Opentrad: Breton-French

The new open-source machine translation engine Apertium just released the new version 0.1.0 for the Breton-French language pair. This language pair is the result from the collaboration between Prompsit Language Engineering, the Universitat d'Alacant and the Ofis ar Brezhoneg (Breton Language Office). The translator has an approximate coverage of 85% and the error rate is between 35% and 45%.

Google seleccionó el sistema de traducción automática de código abierto Apertium para participar en la edición 2009 del Google Summer of Code (GSoC), que contará con un total de 150 proyectos. Los diccionarios de Opentrad disponibles para dispositivos Palm

La herramienta Apertium TinyLex, que facilita la consulta de los diccionarios de Opentrad en dispositivos móviles que admitan MIDP 2.0, es desde ahora compatible con los dispositivos Palm que utilicen la aplicación PalmOpenDic, la cual permite la visualización y búsqueda de palabras en los diccionarios. Este proyecto ha sido desarrollado por Enrique Benimeli y financiado parcialmente por la Universitat d'Alacant.

Lanzamiento de la versión 1.1.0 del par español-catalán para Opentrad

Sa acaba de publicar una nueva versión de apertium-es-ca, el traductor automático español<>catalán. El nuevo paquete contiene mejoras sobre todo en el vocabulario, que ahora cuenta con unos 13.000 lemas más que la versión anterior. Este proyecto ha sido financiado parcialmente por la Universitat Oberta de Catalunya, el periódico ADN y la Kutxa y desenvolvido por Prompsit Language Engineering, Eleka Ingeniaritza Linguistikoa e imaxin|software.
